The Fall & Winter, 2005, issue of "Mobius, The Poetry Magazine," arrived in the mail today with my poem "I Love to Write" on page 35. This, after my poem "Nearly Spring" was published in the previous issue.
The magazine now changes hands, so we'll see what the future holds as far as more submissions there.

The editor of Mobius, The Poetry Magazine, tells me the latest issue is in the mail with a poem of mine. I checked the PO Box this morning, but it hasn't arrived yet.
Our book-signing in the USA was a great experience, books are selling well.

The editor of a poetry magazine is publishing a book of inspirational poetry and wants to use some of my work. She wrote, "I want to thank you for sharing your heart-felt poetry through the years. You have provided 'words of wisdom' in the most wonderful poetic ways. I believe there is great power in the poetry written from a man's perspective."[ add comment ] | [ 0 trackbacks ] | permalink |

Below are a couple of samples from the Cloudburst list. I cannot post more on the site, because they may be used by editors for publication. Once I publish a poem to the site, it is considered published.
A Faithful Leap
by J. Randal Matheny
As far as failing eyes can see,
the hurdles fill my line of sight.
Not rest, but struggles rush at me,
requiring more than human might.
At every mount, a faithful leap
will leave behind another test.
And every jump will surely reap
a clearer view of Zion's crest.

Condescension
by J. Randal Matheny
A slice of sunshine cuts across my chest,
a dying day still laying claim to rule.
I watch the clock, ignore the waning west,
and play myself for a fool.
This slanted ray would raise me from my chair,
but I have other work to finish yet,
while dust is caught suspended in the air,
and I by furrowed brow beset.
At last a lowing glare I can't ignore,
to fill my eyes, announce the hour's end;
I thank the Maker's mark, in heavenly corps,
that he would to his creature condescend.

Inspiration Behind the Poem "My Heart"
Poem published to email list 2005/Oct/18.
My brother Kevin and I were on messenger chatting about poetry. Romantic poetry came up and he said something to this effect: "How many times can you compare 'love' to a tree?"
My fingers twitched as something stirred deep within me, and the first two lines of "My Heart" appeared. It took a few days for the rest to show up, but when I finished it, I decided to send it on to the list, since I'd been absent for a while.
Comments sent by email
"What a beautiful word picture wrapped in God's truth. Thank you, Randal." --P.W.
"I love it! Thank You ..." --M.M.
"It's always great to hear from you! Keep shining!" --S.B.
"The day may be off, but the sentiments aren't. I've missed you." -- J.K. (I'd mentioned that I was off the regular weekday for publishing the poem.)
